Understand your mocks, your scoring, and your rank

A plain-language guide to DCS Rank — what each mock type is for, how marks are calculated, and how we estimate your All India Rank.

NEET exam pattern

How NEET is structured, and how a DCS Rank full mock maps to it.

Our practice mocks score all 200 questions (800 marks) so every attempt counts toward your practice. NEET Real Exam Mode — the official 180-of-200 / 720-mark format with Section A & B choice — is coming soon as a separate mode.

JEE Main exam pattern

How JEE Main is structured, matched one-to-one by our JEE mocks.

JEE Main mocks on DCS Rank already follow the real exam format exactly — 75 questions, 300 marks, 180 minutes.
Also taking JEE Advanced? It's a different exam — two compulsory papers in one day. See the dedicated JEE Advanced pattern → or the JEE Advanced prep page →.

JEE Advanced exam pattern

Two compulsory computer-based papers — Paper 1 and Paper 2 — each 3 hours, across Physics, Chemistry and Maths. For 2026 the papers are asymmetric: Paper 1 has 48 questions, Paper 2 has 54 (set by the organising IIT — IIT Roorkee in 2026; it can change each year).

PaperQuestionsSubjectsDurationMarks
Paper 148Phy · Chem · Math180 min180
Paper 254Phy · Chem · Math180 min180
Total1023 subjects360 min360
Marking (2026 — varies each year): single-correct MCQ +3 / −1 · multiple-correct MCQ +4 with partial credit (−1 for a wrong pick in 2026) · non-negative integer +4 / 0. So it's not a fixed +4/−1 like NEET or JEE Main — the exact scheme is confirmed in the on-screen instructions on exam day. Eligibility: top ~2.5 lakh rankers from JEE Main.
DCS Rank JEE Advanced — 179 dedicated mocks. Our Paper 1 / Paper 2 Sims mirror the official size and 3-hour timing (in single-correct MCQ form). See the JEE Advanced prep page → or the full exam-pattern page →.

Mock types

Six kinds of mock, each built for a different stage of your preparation.

🎯

Full Mock

A complete exam simulation in the exact official format (including NEET's Section A/B optional questions). The only mock that feeds your AIR prediction.

Feeds your AIRNEET 200 · JEE Main 75 · JEE Adv P1 48 / P2 54 · 180 min
📚

Subject Test

One subject at a time — Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology or Maths — to build depth before you sit a full paper.

~45 questions
📖

Chapter / Topic Test

Tight focus on a single chapter — ideal right after you finish learning a topic, to lock it in.

20–40 questions
🔁

Revision Test

Mixed questions across chapters you've already covered, timed to surface what's fading from memory.

~60 questions
🧬

Recovery Test

Auto-built from your weak concepts — the system targets exactly where you've been losing marks.

50–120 questions

Sprint

A quick daily session to keep momentum and speed up without committing to three full hours.

20–50 questions · short
Which counts toward your rank? Only Full Mocks feed your All India Rank estimate. The others are practice — they build the skills that raise your full-mock score.
Marking & timing: NEET and JEE Main mocks use +4 / −1 / 0; JEE Advanced uses its own per-type scheme (+3/−1 single · +4 partial multiple · +4/0 integer). Time scales to the number of questions, so a short Sprint isn't given a three-hour clock.

Scoring system

Every mock uses the same simple rule. Nothing hidden.

+4
Correct answer
−1
Wrong answer
0
Skipped
Worked example — a 200-question NEET practice mock:
100 correct → 100 × 4 = +400
100 wrong → 100 × −1 = −100
Skipped → 0
Final score = 400 − 100 = 300 out of 800
Total possible marks = number of questions × 4. So 200 questions = 800, 75 questions = 300, 55 questions = 220.

How DCS Rank measures your performance

Beyond a single score, DCS Rank builds a picture of where you stand and where you're heading.

🧬

Student DNA

Your personal profile of strong and weak topics, built from every mock you take — so practice targets what actually moves your score.

📉

AIR Trajectory

Your estimated All India Rank tracked over time, so you can see whether you're climbing, holding, or slipping.

🎛️

Rank Simulator

A "what if" view — see how your rank would change if you fixed a weak subject or pushed your accuracy up.

🧭

AI Planner 2.0

A study plan that adjusts to your latest results, telling you what to revise next instead of guessing.

🔧

Recovery Lab

A focused space that turns your weakest topics into a short, fixable practice list.

Your AIR estimate is built from Full Mock performance. It's a guide to help you prepare — not an official result.

Frequently asked questions

The things students and parents ask most.

Which mock should I start with?
Start with a Full Mock to get a baseline score and AIR estimate. Then use Recovery Mocks and Subject Practice to fix the weak areas it reveals.
Why does a mock show 800 marks when NEET is 720?
Our current practice mocks score all 200 questions (200 × 4 = 800) so every question counts. Real NEET lets you answer 180 of 200 for 720 marks — we're adding that as a separate "Real Exam Mode" soon.
How is my score calculated?
Correct +4, wrong −1, skipped 0. Your score is simply the total of those across the questions you attempted. See the Scoring System tab for a worked example.
Which mocks affect my rank?
Only Full Mocks feed your All India Rank estimate. AIR Push, Recovery, Sprint, Pressure Lab and Subject Practice build your skills but don't change your rank.
Can I retake a mock?
Yes — you can attempt mocks as many times as you like. Each attempt is saved so you can track your improvement.
Is my AIR estimate the same as my real NEET rank?
No. It's a prediction based on your mock performance to help you prepare. Your official rank comes only from the actual exam.
